Moving to Fort Collins

We moved to Fort Collins in August of 2011.  Bobby graduated from BYU, Provo, Utah in April, and we got a job at the end of July working for Telvent, in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Bobby moved in July, and we followed in August.  Special thank you's go out to my Sister Beverly, and her husband Scott for allowing us to live with them while we waited for a place of our own.

We moved into a wonderful double wide trailer, 4 bedroom/2bath, at the end of September.  It is beautiful.  I really enjoy having no stairs to climb, and extra room.  The home community is clean and respectful.  They have a club house for our use, and I have used it to host a "murder mystery" party.  There is a playground at the end of our street and pools that are open during the summer months.  I'm excited to use the pools.  We are getting to know our neighbors, slowly but surely, and enjoying the challenge.

It is great to be close to my sister Beverly.  I have never lived this close to my family before, and I am loving the host of conveniences that it brings.  Beverly and Scott have a great house with land that allow the kids lots of room to run and play.  They have a trampoline, swings, hills to sled down, and chickens to chase.  The kids LOVE playing at Aunt Bev's.  James says that it's Aunt Beverly's house, but Uncle Scott's barn.  :)  Beverly is trying her hand at keeping bees, and even gave us some of her first honey.  We  got to see the chicks when they were just barely babies, and watch them grow.  They are planning on getting pigs soon, and I'm excited for all the fun my kids will have growing up with the Thomason's.

Beverly and I enjoy hanging out, going out to eat, and we were watching "Phych" together (that's a tv show), but know she enjoys watching it with her husband, so we're out "Phych" night.  But, we have family dinners, and we went over for birthdays, and christmas to see gifts.  I'm excited for Easter, so we can play together as family.

Fort Collins is a beautiful place to live.  The weather here is perfect.  I get all the seasons, and even in the middle of winter we have days that are no coat, go to the park perfect.  The national forests provides a wonderful scenic beauty, and I enjoy all the natural reserve areas inside the city itself.  There are many small lakes and ponds, and a huge variety of playgrounds.  We love to go to the "giant" park -- so names because the rock formations that you climb on, and slides are built into, are shaped like a giant if you look at it from a distance.  The park it down the street from our community, and takes 2 minutes to get to by car.  I'm told that in the summer, it is a water park, but have yet to see it in the summer.

Downtown Fort Collins if fun to explore.  It has unique, and beautiful old homes, and many museums (which I have yet to visit).  There is some of the old town that Disney fashioned his disneyland main street after.  I enjoy he lights, the art (especially the painted pianos), and the fun shops -- you can actually window shop.  As Fort Collins is a college town, many nights you can find college students playing their instruments off the sidewalks.  There are many great restaurants; you know I like my food.  In the winter they have ice skating and horse drawn sleigh rides (neither of which I have tried).

The city has many recreational activities.  I have made lists of places I would like to take the children, but haven't done many of them as of yet.  I want to take them to the Lee Martinez Farm, the many museums, on a Trolley ride, fishing, and so see the elk.  The list goes on and on, but I'm working on getting to them all, and will blog about the activities.

I am enjoying Fort Collins, and hope to be able to make this our home for many, many years to come.
